Municipalities may not engage in foreign policy. Therefore, they cannot boycott goods or services from companies with operations in Russia, the Administrative Court of Appeal has ruled.

The court has thus drawn the same conclusion as the Administrative Court regarding a boycott decision made by Lund's Municipal Council.

"A statement against a country is primarily a state matter and not a matter of general interest that the municipality may engage in", says Administrative Court of Appeal Judge Johan Sanner in a press release.
