The rape occurred in connection with a youth party.
The police were able to secure DNA traces on the girl's clothes. A suspected perpetrator was identified with the help of witnesses, but the man was then in France, writes the police on their website.
He was arrested in his absence and a European arrest warrant was issued. It wasn't until February last year that the French police managed to find the man and he was arrested.
After a long process, the man was extradited to Sweden at the end of November and now the verdict against him has been handed down.
The man, who denies the crime, is sentenced to two years in prison. He is also to pay approximately 170,000 kronor in damages to the victim, according to local media.
