Sweden finished third in their World Cup qualifying group, behind Denmark and Italy. But the chance of a World Cup spot remains via playoff games this fall - where Sweden will face relatively easy opposition in the first round: 94th-ranked Lithuania.
If Sweden wins the first playoff match, which will be played in mid-October, another playoff would follow in late November/early December. In that case, they would face the winner of the match between the Czech Republic and Scotland.
