“The police have interviewed witnesses at the scene, and the incident appears to have been an accident involving weights. The police are also investigating whether there may have been a technical fault with a machine and are in dialogue with Sats about this,” Oslo police wrote in an incident report.
According to Sats, the incident was not caused by a fault with an exercise machine.
“This is a tragic accident. The information we have now is that it was not caused by a fault with an exercise machine,” says Tina Brodal, PR manager for Sats in the Nordics, to TT.
Earlier this year, Sats paused the use of a specific machine at all its gyms in the Nordics. The decision was made after a man injured himself on the machine at the end of 2025. That incident also happened at a Sats gym in Norway.
