The money was part of a large support package worth a total of more than 300 million Danish kroner, which the Danish government presented in April last year. The donation was made via Estonia.
According to Estonian media, 71 million Danish kroner (equivalent to just over 100 million Swedish kronor) was quickly spent on orders for shells.
But Ukraine has not received a single shell. The money went to an Italian software developer that was bought by Indian companies in 2024. None of the companies has ever manufactured artillery shells, but they refuse to pay back any of the money, Danwatch reports.
In September, Estonia’s then-defense minister, Hanno Pevkur, resigned over the affair. In Denmark, calls for an investigation are growing.
