Swede arrested for gang murder in Turkey

A man within the Swedish gang environment was shot to death in Istanbul on Monday. Now, another man from Sweden has been arrested in Turkey suspected of the murder, reports Expressen and SVT News.

The arrested person is in their 20s and previously had no criminal record, according to SVT.

The man is alleged to have fired eight shots at the victim and then fled the scene on an electric scooter – only to be arrested shortly afterwards by Turkish police.

Håkan Wall, head of the international unit at the National Operational Department (Noa), confirmed to TT on Tuesday that a man with ties to Swedish organized crime had been murdered in Istanbul on Monday.

The murdered man was internationally wanted and had been detained in absentia in Sweden since 2023.

He is suspected of having organized the smuggling of 115 kilograms of cocaine in 2020, according to Expressen.
