A suspected hazardous substance was found in Norrköping in the morning.
According to the rescue service, it was about several bottles labeled as "thorium", a radioactive element, which had been left at a recycling center, as Norrköpings Tidningar first reported.
The staff was evacuated and parts of a road were blocked off while the rescue service handled the bottles. By 1 pm, it was established that they were harmless.
You're playing it safe. I've read that it's been used in X-rays and old fluorescent lamps. It's some kind of gray powder, as I understand it, says Martin Eriksson at the Rescue Service Östra Götaland to TT.
