It was weakly upwards on several fronts on Asia's leading stock exchanges in the initial trading week. At lunchtime on Monday, Tokyo's important Nikkei 225 was up 0.1 percent, while the broader Topix index was up 0.3 percent.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index was up 0.1 percent. Shanghai's and Shenzhen's composite index were up 0.1 and 0.7 percent, respectively.
