The wind is blowing hard in the mountains and SMHI advises people not to venture out into the mountains unnecessarily. On Thursday evening, the winds in the northern Lapland mountains can reach storm strength.
Also on Friday, SMHI's orange warning remains in place, which then also includes the southern Lapland mountains and the Jämtland mountains. Then, southwest winds with storm strength are expected, in addition to dense snow showers.
The ski resorts affected are, among others, Abisko, Riksgränsen, Björkliden, Hemavan, Dundret, and Åre-Duved.
According to SMHI, it may be difficult to orient oneself on the mountain due to reduced visibility, and the strong winds also make the risk of frostbite great.
The storm warnings for the mountain areas remain in place on Saturday before the wind begins to subside on Sunday night.
SMHI has three levels of weather warnings:
Yellow warning: Consequences for society, some risks for the general public.
Orange warning: Serious consequences for society, danger for the general public.
Red warning: Very serious consequences for society, great danger for the general public.
