Today, you have the right to opt out of an assignment, and you can opt out very many times, says Minister for Employment Mats Persson (L) at a press conference.

We want to review how many times you can opt out and in how many days you will then lose your benefits.

The sanction system will resemble the sanction ladder in the unemployment insurance.

The tightening will be introduced in 2025. Nearly a third of those participating in the job and development guarantee do not participate in any activity, such as internships or preparatory education, according to Persson.

The system is too lenient, he says.

It does not emphasize enough the individual's responsibility to seek employment.
