The red-green government in Stockholm will raise taxes in Stockholm city next year, writes in a debate article in Aftonbladet.

According to the Social Democrats, the Green Party, and the Left Party, the increase will be 24 öre per hundred-lapp. A family with an income of 600,000 kronor per year will, according to the proposal, get 74 kronor more in tax per month.

"This is not an easy decision, but it is necessary", writes the parties.

The Social Democrats, the Green Party, and the Left Party believe that the increase is necessary to strengthen welfare and environmental work.

"When the government and the Sweden Democrats prioritize tax cuts for those who earn the most, we put the money where it really makes a difference", writes the parties further.

Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson (The Moderate Party) believes that the message is unfortunate.

While the government does everything we can to facilitate for households and strengthen purchasing power, especially considering that the consequences of inflation are still present, they choose to raise taxes again. It hits hardest against ordinary wage earners, says Elisabeth Svantesson.
