There is still concern on Asia's leading stock exchanges in a situation where investors are trying to get a sense of how the global economy will be affected when Donald Trump takes over the presidency in the USA in January.
In Tokyo, the important Nikkei 225 index had fallen by 1 percent at lunchtime, while the broader Topix index retreated by 0.9 percent.
It was also gloomy in Hong Kong, where the Hang Seng index shrank by 0.6 percent.
It was not cheerful either on Shenzhen's composite index, which lost 1 percent, while the composite index in Shanghai fluctuated around zero.
