Didn't you get into the education? Or did you miss the application? It's not too late yet. There are currently thousands of educations open for late application.
For some, the admission decision on July 11 brought joy - for others, disappointment. But there is hope.
One may be on the reserve list and think that the reserve spot is far back, but sometimes a lot happens in the queues, says Jenny Twana, unit manager at the department for admission and student support at the University and Higher Education Council (UHR).
According to Jenny Twana, it's a good idea to look at previous years' admission statistics for merit values to get an idea of one's chances of getting in.
Another alternative is to apply late to educations that are open.
This can be done right now, even if one is on the reserve list.
Thousands of educations to apply for
On Antagning.se, there are 11,672 programs and courses open for late application. Of these, 4,017 courses and programs are at beginner level, which do not require previous education.
Several teacher educations, university and civil engineering educations, and economics educations - to name a few - are open for late application, as well as courses in, for example, languages, programming, and biology.
The reason educations are open for late application may be that there are remaining places. It may also be that they want to fill up the reserve queue - in case the education doesn't become full - and then be able to fill up from the queue, according to Jenny Twana.
Admission to educations with late application differs on one important point.
When there are places available, applications are handled in order, then it's not about merit value. It's those who applied first who are taken in first - if one meets the eligibility requirements.
Therefore, it's a good idea to apply as soon as possible. One should also be prepared for the decision to come late, according to Jenny Twana.
An opportunity to test
Many of the educations open for late application are single courses. Even if one is focused on an education with a specific program structure, it's often possible to pick up courses for a degree. Another alternative is to start reading courses and credit them if one gets into the education later, according to Jenny Twana.
This can be an excellent opportunity to start testing too. Some are a bit unsure about going into university studies. One can start with a course that's interesting and relevant, and not jump into the program right away, she says.
Thursday, July 11: Admission decision with response requirement. If one has been admitted to an education or received a reserve spot, one must respond to keep one's place. This is done on My Pages on Antagning.se.
Friday, July 19: Last response day.
Thursday, July 25: Second admission decision. In the second selection, one is tested based on the responses submitted earlier. If one has been admitted and wants to keep one's place or wants to remain on the reserve list, one doesn't need to respond to the second admission decision. The only thing one needs to do is wait for instructions on registration or possible reserve admission.
