The victory looked for a long time to go to the Jamaican Roje Stona, who earlier this summer won Olympic Games gold in Paris. But in the competition's final throw, he saw himself surpassed by Kristjan Ceh. The Slovenian's throw landed at 68.61 – the evening's longest. Mykolas Alekna, Lithuania, finished third.
Ståhl will now have to head to Helsinki, where he will compete in the Finnkampen on Saturday.
