”To play for the national team is always a great honor, but after an injury-filled season it is crucial for me to focus on a complete recovery and a strong preseason with my club”, says Bobi Klintman on the Swedish Basketball Federation's website.

In a comment, national team coach Mikko Riipinen says:

”We have had open and good conversations with both Bobi and Detroit Pistons. His club has been positive to playing in the national team. We have full understanding for Bobi's decision to invest the time in himself and his club team at this time and we know that he would have liked to play for the national team. We support our players in their clubs and we look forward to Bobi making his debut in the national team in the future.”

The European Championship is played between August 27 and September 14 and Sweden will play its group stage matches in Tampere, Finland. Sweden has Germany, Finland, Great Britain, Lithuania, and Montenegro in its group.
