Actually, von der Leyen was supposed to do a review for the group leaders on Wednesday morning about how she envisions her commission.

Now it's being moved to 9 am on September 17, announces the parliament's acting spokesperson Delphine Colard on X.

Sweden has nominated EU Minister Jessika Roswall (The Moderate Party) to the new commission, where it has been speculated that she may get responsibility for either the internal market, enlargement issues, defense, or trade. Today, former S Minister Ylva Johansson is the union's home affairs commissioner.

The EU Commission has the task of proposing new laws and ensuring that the decisions made are actually implemented and that EU laws are followed. It consists of 27 commissioners, one from each EU country, and they work primarily for the EU and not for their own country.

German Ursula von der Leyen – formerly a long-time minister for the Christian Democratic conservative CDU – has been the commission's president during the last five-year period and received renewed confidence after the EU election in June.
