Dika Mem will win the Champions League again. For himself and for FC Barcelona – but above all for his 17-year-old sister who died recently.
Dika Mem is grieving. When Barcelona won the Spanish Cup last week, Mem missed parts of the playoffs, as he was at home with his family in France where his sister Olivia had passed away.
Mem returned to Spanish Jaén and played the semifinal and final over the weekend – and Barcelona won.
What he was referring to was the most important title of the season, which is being played this weekend in Cologne when the Champions League is decided with the "final four".
He is emotional but still composed when his sister's death is mentioned during the press conference before the semifinals.
Dika Mem has good memories from Cologne. Both in 2021 and 2022, his Barça won the Champions League in the mighty Lanxess Arena. And in January this year, Mem was the big hero when France won the EM final against Denmark after extra time.
Now he's waiting to start Kiel in tonight's semifinal – with Barcelona as the favorite among most.
In the other semifinal, Magdeburg faces Ålborg.
