After the recent thunderstorms that hit Skåne, SMHI has now issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms and heavy rain in large parts of the country on Saturday.

The warning applies to the western and central parts of Götaland, where large amounts of rain are expected. A yellow warning for thunderstorm-like rain has also been issued for the western parts of southern Norrland, western parts of Svealand, and northwestern Götaland.

The thunderstorms and rain are expected to clear up in the afternoon and continue until evening. Locally, it can become heavy rain and strong gusts of wind in conjunction with the thunderstorms.

Traffic disruptions can occur due to flooded roads, as well as viaducts, cellars, and drainage systems being overwhelmed.

On Thursday, unusually large amounts of rain fell over northwestern Skåne – 80 millimeters according to a local weather station. Parts of Båstad were covered in water after the heavy thunderstorms, and buildings and roads were flooded.
