The leading indexes on Wall Street fell slightly on Thursday. Nasdaq's composite index and the Dow Jones industrial index performed best with declines of 0.1 percent. The broad S&P500 index fell 0.2 percent after Wednesday's record level.
During the day, American inflation figures were presented, showing a smaller decline than expected. The so-called core inflation, i.e. excluding food and energy prices, amounted to 3.3 percent, compared to expected 3.2 percent.
Among individual companies, the airline Delta Airlines kicked off the reporting season by presenting quarterly figures. The company's profit for the third quarter fell by as much as 26 percent, and although revenues rose slightly, this did not compensate for rising costs, such as landing fees. The share price fell nearly 2 percent.
