Intel's share loses 3 percent in American trading since the President of the USA, Donald Trump, wrote on his social media platform Truth Social that the company's CEO Lip-Bu Tan "must resign immediately".
"There is no other solution to this problem. Thank you for your attention!", he writes in the post.
The statement comes after the Republican senator Tom Cotton has been in contact with the company's board regarding questions about the CEO's previous connections to the Chinese company Cadence Design Systems Inc.
In a statement from Intel, the company writes that they are deeply committed to the USA's national security and integrity.
