A 35-year-old man is being prosecuted for causing bodily harm, a serious offense, after shooting his hunting companion. The incident occurred after a hunting trip outside Surahammar in the spring, according to local media.

I mean that the man handled the weapon in a reckless manner, he had a cartridge in the barrel, the weapon was not secured, and he somehow triggered the shot, says prosecutor Fredrik Ingblad to SVT News Västmanland.

The hunting companion, a 60-year-old man, suffered serious injuries and underwent emergency surgery.

The man admits, according to the prosecutor, to having handled the weapon but denies that it was in a reckless manner.
