At 22.30 on Sunday, 112 was alerted about the fire and the rescue service rushed to the scene. All residents were evacuated, but the extensive attic fire spread so quickly that the rescue service decided to let the house burn down, says the rescue service's alarm and control operator Ulf Gille to TT.

The reason for the rapid fire progression can be that the building, which belonged to a municipal housing company, was largely made of wood and did not have the same fire protection as more modern properties, according to Ulf Gille.
The house is now burned down. The fire has not spread to other buildings, but we will stay and monitor this for most of the day, he says on Monday morning.
In total, there were 14 apartments in the house, which consisted of two floors and a loft. No one was injured and most residents have received help from relatives and family to find temporary accommodation. A nearby church has also opened to accommodate evacuated persons.
The cause of the fire will be investigated.
