She will receive the honorary award in Gothenburg in connection with the presentation of her new film "Meet the barbarians" on January 29.
Delpy has both directed and written the screenplay for the film and also plays the lead role.
"Julie Delpy is a unique voice in the film world. Her films have a rare blend of humor, depth, and sensitivity that touches audiences around the world", says Pia Lundberg, artistic director at the Gothenburg Film Festival, in a statement.
The festival will also feature films by Julie Delpy, including "2 days in Paris" and "Lolo".
