TV4's "Idol" has come more than halfway through the season and the theme for Saturday's final was the jury's choice. The participants received four proposals for songs from the jury – without knowing which of the four jury members had chosen which song.
The setup didn't go down well with either Margaux Flavet or Minou Nilsson, who were dissatisfied with the songs the jury had chosen. In the end, Margaux opted for Beyoncé's "Halo" – and received standing ovations from both the jury and the audience.
Minou's interpretation of Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" also went down well with the jury.
"Idol" rock star Ella Ekholm's "Rebel Girl" also received much praise.
So cool, the best I've seen, said Peg Parnevik.
In parallel with the idols' competition, an internal settlement was also underway among the jury members about who had gotten the most songs. Katia Mosally took it with ease, with five out of nine pinned songs.
Generally, there was much praise for the idols' performances this evening, but when the TV audience had had their say, it was Olivia Oyemade Merenius and Ella Ekholm who had received the fewest votes and would therefore have to leave the program.
Then, the host of the jury competition, guest host Joakim Lundell, dropped the bomb of the evening: as a prize, Katia Mosally got to choose whether she wanted to save one of the eliminated participants in the competition.
She took the opportunity and chose to give Ella Ekholm the chance to compete further next week.
Can one say that one is glad to have competed? said a not too sad Olivia Oyemade Merenius, who thus has to leave "Idol".
