Israeli settlers attacked on Sunday a group of foreign volunteers who help Palestinian farmers on the occupied West Bank.
The eight activists, most of them Americans, were working at an olive grove near the Palestinian village of Qusra when they were attacked, one of them told the AFP news agency.
They started attacking us and beating us with sticks and metal rods and also threw stones, says David Hummel.
The Israeli military confirms that "a number of masked Israeli civilians attacked a group of foreign nationals while they were planting trees" and that several of the volunteers were injured. Soldiers who were sent to the site managed to disperse the attackers by firing warning shots into the air, adds the military.
The attacked volunteers belong to the organization International Solidarity Movement, which by being present among Palestinians on the West Bank wants to offer a "protective presence".
