Industrial production in Germany decreased by 2.5 percent in May, according to figures from the statistics agency Destatis. The decline was unexpected.
Analysts had on average expected an increase of 0.1 percent compared to the previous month. In April, industrial production in Germany increased by 0.1 percent, according to revised figures.
In annual terms, the decline in May was 6.7 percent for German industrial production. This can be compared to an average forecast of minus 4.3 percent and minus 3.7 percent in April.
