A woman in Norrköping was sentenced in May last year to forensic psychiatric care for assault with torture-like elements. She was already in prison for other serious crimes. When she was to be transferred from prison to forensic psychiatry, she was released on parole due to lack of space – despite the risk of relapse being assessed as high. In October, she was arrested suspected of new attempted murder.
One can conclude that it is a total failure, says Henrik Lindbom, the woman's lawyer to P4 Östergötland.
According to the regional clinic responsible for the woman's forensic psychiatric care, they have had difficulty in the past two years fulfilling the task of arranging a place within a week for someone sentenced to forensic psychiatric care.
We have not managed that due to the space situation, says Pähr Forsberg, operations manager at the regional clinic, to the radio.
The woman denies the allegations of attempted murder.
