The Employment Service has in many places lost its ability to deliver real paths to work, believes The Christian Democrats.
"We Christians Democrats think that the time has come to abolish the Employment Service in its current form", writes Camilla Rinaldo Miller, member of the Labour Market Committee, and Lili André, spokesperson for business policy, on SvD Debate.
They believe that many municipalities are already doing a better job than the Employment Service today, and want to give the municipalities the main responsibility for labour market measures.
The municipalities would be better at this, among other things, because they have local knowledge, networks and can build a more personal contact with job seekers, mean the party members.
"We just need to dare to believe in the local and dare to let go of an authority that no longer fulfils its purpose. It's time to start over", they write.
