The bill to be presented to the Riksdag in the spring would, however, allow mobile phones in lessons if the teacher gives permission to use them for educational purposes.
A total ban was also on the table but was later dismissed.
Then you're faced with the question of where you draw the line, how you handle the school route, where the phones should be stored and how that storage is monitored, and so on, says Minister of Education Anders Adlercreutz (SFP).
If the bill goes through, individual schools will be given the opportunity to introduce stricter rules of conduct. They will define when and how mobile phones may be used during breaks and how they should be stored during the school day.
According to the proposal, the law is expected to come into force in August 2025.
