The sales in daily goods trade increased by 4.0 percent in July 2024, compared to the same month in 2023, according to the industry organization Swedish Daily Goods Trade's Daily Goods Index.
The inflation rate for food and non-alcoholic beverages was 1.1 percent in July, and adjusted for inflation, sales increased by 2.9 percent.
"The sales in daily goods trade increased during the summer month of July. We see that food prices have a lower rate of increase than the overall inflation. But it's important to remember that the price level is now at a higher level than before inflation took off and households' purchasing power is still weak," says Karin Brynell, CEO of Swedish Daily Goods Trade in a press release.
