The mood among German companies has improved slightly, according to a monthly index from the economic institute Ifo. The Ifo index for August rose to 89.0, compared to 88.6 in July.
The increase is primarily explained by the fact that the picture of the future looks a little brighter now than in July, according to the measurement. But when it comes to the sub-index for the current situation, it is still pointing downwards.
"The recovery of the German economy is still weak", notes Ifo chief Clemens Fuest in a press release.
