Lucasfilm has signed an agreement on three new "Star Wars" films, reports several American media outlets.
The trilogy is said to continue after 2019's "The Rise of Skywalker", and constitute numbers ten, eleven, and twelve in order. However, it is not said to be a continuation of the existing films, but a completely new story with new characters.
American director Simon Kinberg, co-creator of the animated series "Star Wars: Rebels", is said to be responsible for the script. He has previously written and produced several "X-Men" films, among other things.
Lucasfilm already has several other ongoing "Star Wars" projects, including existing TV series such as "The Mandalorian" and more sketchy plans.
Work on the new trilogy is said to be in an early stage, and it is unclear when it can have its premiere.
