A man died after a catheter mistake in Örnsköldsvik municipality in March this year, reports Örnsköldsviks Allehanda. After replacing a so-called residual urinary catheter, the patient was struck by severe pain and a nurse was called in by the care staff.
He later died at the hospital due to sepsis and organ failure.
According to a journal entry from the region, the catheter was inserted incorrectly. The incident has now been reported to the Health and Social Care Inspectorate, Ivo, under Lex Maria.
