Six pregnant cows died when lightning struck in a grove in a farm in Kålaboda in Västerbotten on Thursday, reports Mellanbygden.
The cows had sought shelter from the rain under a grove when the lightning struck.
It felt very sad of course, they were going to calve in the autumn, says the farm's owner Ingrid Sundblom to Mellanbygden.
She discovered the dead cows the morning after the lightning strike. The accident means a setback for the farm, since they had counted on the calves becoming dairy cows.
What happened will have financial consequences, says Sundblom and notes that this type of accident is very rare.
