The radical imam Anjem Choudary is sentenced for terrorist offenses in the United Kingdom.
The court finds that he has led the banned extremist network al-Muhajiroun for several years, and that he has urged support for the organization during video meetings, reports BBC.
The sentence will be announced at a later time.
Al-Muhajiroun was banned in 2006 under the name Al Ghurabaa. In 2010, al-Muhajiroun was added to the ban as an alternative name for the group.
The extensive police investigation has been conducted in cooperation between the London police, the New York police, and the police in Canada.
Choudary has previously served a prison sentence in the United Kingdom for supporting the terrorist group IS.
