Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to the USA has triggered a wave of demonstrations in several parts of the capital Washington.
In the building of the American Congress, the Capitol, where the Israeli leader is to hold a speech on Wednesday, a sit-in was arranged. The demonstrators, who came from the organization Jewish Voice for Peace, wore red shirts with the text "Not in our name" and chanted "Let Gaza live!"
I am the daughter of a Holocaust survivor, I know what a genocide looks like, said Jane Hirschman, who protested together with her daughters.
According to the American police, around 200 demonstrators were arrested in connection with the demonstration at the Capitol.
Protests against the war in Gaza and in support of the hostages still held by the terrorist-stamped Hamas were also held at other locations in the capital.
