The woman has not been suspected of helping her cousin – one of the key players in the bloody internal conflict within the Foxtrot network – in his criminal activities.
The charge instead concerns two instances where she shared information, which according to the indictment was confidential, with her siblings.
One case involves a murder investigation in 2022, which the woman led, where she in a chat with a sibling, among other things, provided information about who had been murdered and how it happened. The other case concerns a photo she sent to a sibling showing that a person was detained. The person shared a first name with Ismail Abdo, and she jokingly wrote that her cousin had been arrested.
Not criminal
The woman has admitted to the events but has denied that it was criminal. The purpose was only to ventilate and talk about difficult things with her family, according to the woman, who has also denied that the information she provided in the chats was not of such a nature that it would constitute a breach of confidentiality.
The Södertörn District Court agrees that the woman did not have any malicious intent, and that there is no evidence that the disclosure harmed the investigations.
However, according to the court, it is clear that she committed a crime in both cases, since there is no doubt that "the information was part of ongoing investigations into serious crimes and was covered by confidentiality".
Demands dismissal
The Prosecution Authority has already stated before the trial that they want her to be dismissed, regardless of whether she is convicted. In addition to the two crimes she has been charged with, the authority has pointed out that the woman visited her cousin in prison several times between 2016 and 2019 without informing her superiors.
The State's Disciplinary Board, which decides on potential dismissal, has not announced how they stand on the matter.
The Foxtrot network, led by Rawa Majid from Uppsala, engaged in extensive drug smuggling to Sweden over several years. The network has allied itself with several criminal networks in Sweden, which have assisted Foxtrot in carrying out serious violent crimes.
Between 2021 and 2023, the network was involved in at least four separate conflicts with other gangs, including the Dalen network in southern Stockholm.
In the summer of 2023, an internal split occurred within the network, resulting in a bloody conflict between prominent figures in Foxtrot. Among other things, the mother of one of the leaders, Ismail Abdo, was murdered in her home outside Uppsala.
Another leading figure in the conflict was shot dead in Baghdad, Iraq's capital, in early 2024 by a Swedish hitman, according to suspicions.
