The low-cost airline Ryanair reports a significant profit decline for the second quarter. The airline's profit after tax was almost halved (46 percent) to 360 million euros for the period April-June, while the average prices for flight tickets simultaneously fell by 15 percent compared to the same period in 2023.
The summer period is traditionally the most lucrative for airlines, but Ryanair is now stating that customers have become increasingly restrictive.
Consumers are more frugal. They still want to travel but are more cautious about how they use their money, says the company's finance director Neil Sorahan in connection with the report.
