Initially, trouble was declared with logging in to the Swedish Tax Agency's website on Tuesday morning, as many wanted to file their tax returns simultaneously. A few hours later, it became clear that the problems were due to overload attacks, also known as ddos attacks.
Two attacks were carried out in the morning, a third at 11 am.
We have various countermeasures, while the attacker is using different methods to get to us. So, it's a cat-and-mouse game going on right now, says IT Director Peder Sjölander to GP during the third attack.
Those who want to file their tax returns are recommended to wait a while and try again at a later time.
It has been quiet for a while, but a day like this is a perfect opportunity for those who carry out overload attacks to show that they can affect such systems, says Sjölander to the newspaper.
