Daniel Lenart and his colleague from Karlskoga were actually on their way to a civilian reconnaissance mission when they heard the alarm – something about a shooting at a school.
Then it didn't take long before colleagues called on the radio: "Now he's shooting at us!" Then we understand that it's extremely serious, and that we have a real school shooting.
They drove the four miles to Örebro in 20 minutes. When Daniel Lenart and two colleagues decided to go in, they each had a pistol in their hand, and it would take four and a half hours before they came out again.
Inside the school, chaos reigned, with "the smell of death" and people barricading themselves. During the work of evacuating, there were some who were afraid that the police were actually the shooter in disguise.
There were people in total terror, it's so clear that they think they're going to die.
There were dead bodies in the corridors, and Daniel Lenart told those being evacuated to close their eyes because this is not something you want to see. Some still chose to open their eyes, and screamed out loud at what they saw.
The worst was still the sound of ringing mobile phones by the dead bodies.
And the phones rang constantly. You could see a little heart in the display, and it took a hard toll on me that someone is calling and no one will answer.
