"I take a serious view of the shooting at Israel's embassy in Stockholm last night, and the events reported from Copenhagen this morning", says Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer (The Moderate Party) in a written comment, referring to explosions that occurred near Israel's embassy in Denmark during the night towards Wednesday.

According to Strömmer, the government is in contact with the police and has established contact with the Danish government.

A police operation was launched at around 18:00 on Tuesday evening after an alarm about a loud bang at Israel's embassy on Strandvägen in Stockholm. The police do not want to disclose what findings have been made, citing the secrecy of the preliminary investigation.

The case is being investigated as aggravated weapons offence, reckless endangerment, aggravated unlawful threats, and vandalism. No one has been arrested yet.

The Security Service does not want to comment

A number of security measures directed at foreign missions and various religious communities have been taken "due to external factors", the police write in an email to TT.

Which ones these are will not be made public, as according to the police, "in many cases, the measures would lose their purpose".

If the Security Service is involved in the case, press spokesperson Gabriel Wernstedt does not want to comment, referring to the police who are conducting the preliminary investigation. However, in general, the police and the Security Service have close cooperation, says Wernstedt.

We exchange information and take part in each other's intelligence in various ways.

Contract job from Iran

Since earlier, there has been increased security around Israel's embassy in Stockholm – and increased police presence – due to several incidents earlier this year.

In June, a 15-year-old boy was convicted of aggravated weapons offence after being arrested on May 16 with a loaded pistol in a taxi on his way to the embassy. The following evening, May 17, a shooting occurred at the embassy. In January, a hand grenade was thrown at the embassy, but did not detonate.

The police and the Security Service stated in May that organized crime in Sweden can be linked to the events. The criminal networks are used by Iran to carry out violent acts against, for example, other states, according to the Security Service.
