The trial against Pelicot, which began in September, has shaken France and sparked outrage around the world. The 71-year-old has admitted to drugging his former wife Gisèle Pelicot – Caroline Darian's mother –, raping her, and inviting other men to participate for nearly a decade.
In the book, Caroline Darian tells her and Gisèle Pelicot's story, about the trauma they experienced and how they were forced to rebuild their lives from scratch.
"This is an incredibly brave and strong story that is impossible to defend against. In elegant and simple prose, Caroline tells how she discovers her father's horrific crimes, which lead to the family's downfall, but also to the trial that shakes the entire world", says Ebba Östberg, publisher at Forum publishing house, in a press release.
"And I stopped calling you dad" will also be released as an audiobook on December 20.
