The pallet, from a fake sender in Spain, was supposed to contain only food – but turned out to be part of an advanced drug smuggling operation to Norway via Värmland.
In total, the customs inspectors found 78 kilos of cannabis, which would have been worth approximately 9.3 million kronor in street value, according to the Customs Agency in a press release.
Now, three men are being prosecuted for aggravated drug smuggling and aggravated drug offenses.
The drugs were discovered in Gothenburg, and when the pallet was later delivered to Stöllet in northern Värmland, it was monitored by the Customs Agency.
Two men picked up the goods and later – with the help of a third man – reloaded them at a nearby house. That's when they were caught.
The men can, according to the Customs Agency, also be linked to several other suspected smuggling trips.
"They all deny the crime, but I think our investigation clearly shows that they have been involved in extensive drug smuggling to Norway via Sweden", says Ingela Östmark, head of the Customs Agency's criminal division in Gothenburg, in the press release.
