The investigators are not enough at the State Accident Commission, reports Altinget. The Director-General John Ahlberk calls 2023 and 2024 "completely unique years".
In preparation for the autumn budget, the authority describes a structural underfunding and wants 17 million kronor extra. If they do not get it, cutbacks will be required.
The basic organization is anorectic. It is very tightly slimmed down and sometimes I do not even understand myself how we make it work, says Ahlberk.
Generally, they have one investigation per year that is not of the traditional kind. But lately, they have investigated the accident at Gröna Lund, the elevator accident in Sundbyberg, and the landslide on E6 in Stenungsund.
The processing time is therefore longer and the workload is high. Normally, investigators have one to two assignments, but now they can have four simultaneously. In some cases, investigators must take on assignments outside their expertise, and a high workload risks investigators missing important observations, according to Ahlberk.
