Only on Sunday, over 700 people arrived by sea from northern France, according to the Home Office in London. Approximately the same number made the dangerous journey on Saturday.
The total figure represents a slight increase compared to last year, but a 21 percent decrease compared to 2022.
The migrant journeys across the English Channel were one of the biggest issues during the British election campaign last summer. So far, however, Keir Starmer's Labour government has not succeeded in stemming the arrivals.
Since the beginning of the year, nearly 50 migrants have died in the English Channel, at least 20 of them during the month of September.
