The singer Wayne Osmond, one of the seven siblings in the pop group The Osmonds, has passed away at the age of 73 after a stroke.

"I have never known a man who had more humility." writes his brother Merrill Osmond in a Facebook post and describes him as sincere, without the slightest deceit.

The siblings grew up in a Mormon family in Utah and their career took off in the early 1960s in connection with Wayne, Merrill, Alan, and Jay singing at Disneyland and appearing on TV. Eventually, brothers Donny and Jimmy joined, as well as sister Marie.

For five weeks in 1971, the hit song "One bad apple" spun as number 1 on Billboard 100, according to People magazine. Shortly thereafter, the band went their separate ways.

Other hits are "Yo-yo" and “Down by the lazy river".
