The Nobel laureate Narges Mohammadi has been sentenced to a year in prison for spreading "propaganda against the state", according to her lawyer.
Narges Mohammadi has been imprisoned since November 2021 following several previous convictions related to her criticism of the mandatory hijab for women and the death penalty in Iran.
Mohammadi shared an audio message from prison in March, in which she condemned what she called a "full-scale war against women" in Iran.
Narges Mohammadi was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize last year for her work on women's rights in Iran. She has opposed oppression against women, forced veiling, and the state's violent and repressive methods. For this, she has been sentenced to several prison terms and subjected to numerous lashes.
