The price of oil fell by more than 5 percent on the global market when trading opened in Asia after the Israeli attack on Iran over the weekend.
A barrel of North Sea oil, Brent, was traded early on Monday morning for 73 dollars. American WTI oil was traded for around 68 dollars.
An Israeli fighter jet attacked several military targets in Iran on Saturday night, a response to Iran's robot attack on October 1. The retaliation from Israel was more restrained than had been feared.
If Israel had instead struck the Iranian oil production, it could have escalated the conflict further with a skyrocketing oil price as a consequence.
