A police officer on leave took up the pursuit of a speeder on E18 outside Karlstad. Before the second car was stopped, the speed was occasionally around 200 kilometers per hour. But it was not the police officer himself who drove, but his wife – and now both are being prosecuted for traffic offenses, writes NWT.
The incident occurred in September. According to the indictment, the police officer "urged or induced" his wife to drive too fast – something she has denied in questioning and called a "joint decision" due to the other driver's reckless behavior.
Both the police officer and his wife "acknowledge the sequence of events but deny any wrongdoing", according to the indictment.
The speeder whom the couple chased has already been fined 4,000 kronor for the speeding offense.
