In southern and central Sweden, the day will be about half an hour longer per week.
The increase is largest now and for about ten weeks ahead due to the Earth's tilt towards the Sun. For each day, the Sun rises more steeply above the horizon. The largest increase occurs around the vernal equinox, on March 20.
Despite this, there is no part of the country that has spring yet.
According to SMHI, winter still prevails in almost the entire country, except in Skåne and the coastal areas of Götaland where meteorological autumn still prevails. The earliest date for spring according to SMHI's definition is February 15. Spring arrives when there has been a daily mean temperature above 0 degrees for seven days in a row.
